Don't Apologize for Being YOU!

Happy Sunday everyone! Most importantly, Happy Father's Day! I hope everyone had a chance to hug their father and express your thanks for his existence. And for those of you whose fathers are watching and protecting you from heaven, I hope you find comfort knowing they are happily smiling down on you😊.

Today, I am giving you guys a slight break from my back-to-back food posts. I told you I loveee food😜. I wanted to give you guys a little dose of motivation to help you prepare for the week ahead.

                                                                             So without further ado...

"Today you are YOU, that is TRUER than true. There is NO ONE alive who is YOUER than YOU!" -Dr. Seuss

How wonderful is it to know that there is and will always be ONE you. There's no one in the world like you. Your fingerprint is unique. Your laugh is unique. Your thoughts are unique. Therefore, YOU are UNIQUE!

Normally when I write, I tend to add a lot of "fluff" or extra details to slowly introduce you to the topic I am writing about. But I want to change it up real quick. I want to get straight to the point.

STOP APOLOGIZING FOR BEING YOU!

Admit it. You do it. Your friends and family do it. I do it too; I am  very guilty of this. Point is: We all do it!
Maybe you laugh a certain way or laugh so hard that you end up snorting and everyone looks at you funny. You become slightly embarrassed and in an attempt to resolve this situation, you apologize for your actions.

"I'm sorry my voice is really annoying."
"I'm sorry, I'm such a klutz."
And my personal fave: "I'm sorry for bumping into you." (And the other person was the one who bumped into ME!!)  Yeah, not one of my proudest moments.

Think of it like this: According to Google, "apologizing" is the act of expressing regret for something that one has done wrong. In certain circumstances such as being rude to someone or hurting someone's feelings, an apology is acceptable and should be the natural response. When it comes to you talking really fast to someone or snort-laughing, you shouldn't feel like it's something to be ashamed of. It's like someone calling you beautiful or handsome in the hallway and you respond back with "I'm sorry".

So how do you suppose we fix this problem?

By learning to embrace your personal quirks instead of being embarrassed by them. Show off the amazing personality and skills God has so graciously given you. He gave it to you for a reason: to share it with those around you.

Jam out to your favorite song and show your "one-of-a-kind" moves at a dance or party.
Play an original song on your guitar or ukulele at a small café or even your school's talent show.
Whip up a mean dish that will put all the frozen dinners to shame.
Or even laugh at your own punny jokes to the point where you are crying or even snort-laughing.

Basically, JUST BE YOURSELF! There's no one in the world who can wake up each day and live the life you are living right now. Your personal quirks are what makes you unique! They're like candles on a cake or whipped cream on a root beer float-they make it 10x better! So, learn to appreciate them. And most importantly, love the person you are! Don't degrade yourself by apologizing because you are "fearfully and wonderfully made".

Thank you guys for taking the time to read this post. I hope you found a sense of encouragement and empowerment to appreciate the person that you are. I know your insecurities can get in the way of you expressing yourself ( I am still working on accepting my flaws and being happy with them too), but I hope you will feel more content with yourself after taking the time to accept them. I hope you guys have a great week and don't forget to "stay classy".😄

  1. In my opinion, apologizing when you are wrong, makes you strong and even help you to build your trust on people who want to be with you.

    1. I completely agree. Admitting and even apologizing when you are wrong takes a lot of internal strength and those who can do that without fail ARE strong! Thanks for commenting your opinion:)
